Holiday Travel Dream

When I was in college we would go to New York for Thanksgiving. I remember going shopping at Barney's, Bloomingdales, and Macy's. My favorite part of Christmas in the city was the mesmerizing holiday windows. They were always so beautiful, vibrant, and awe inspiring. Walking the city at night was magical with all the lights and the store windows lit up and animated, the tree at Rockefeller Center, the ice skaters, and the wonderful street vendor smells of roasted chestnuts. I haven't spent a holiday in the city in 25 years, but there is one thing you can count on is New York always shining bright during this time of year.

Now that I am older my ideal holiday vacation is a location anywhere Mother Nature provides the sparkle, vibrancy, and awe inspiring views. A location that comes with snow, cozy log cabin, crackling fire place, and a huge tree. The local area with small town charm and oozes Hallmark Channel Christmas Movie schmaltz. You wonder the main street checking out the windows, popping into a shop or two and just enjoying the atmosphere. Imagine waking up in the morning, snow outside the window, a roaring fire in the fireplace and a mug of your favorite hot beverage. Sounds like the perfect holiday getaway to me.
